I was an intern with CST-India in Mumbai during the summer of 2010. I evaluated pedestrian improvements in Indore, India. Working in the Indian context presents a number of unique challenges. For instance, sidewalks serve as both arterials for pedestrian movement and homes of street vending activity. Similarly, resources to enforce traffic laws are often lacking so compliance must enforced through design. It is a fascinating and rewarding challenge.

I am a graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley pursuing master’s degrees in Transportation Engineering and in the Goldman School of Public Policy. I have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin and have also worked with the Texas Transportation Institute and as a transportation planner with Dowling Associates, Inc in Oakland, CA.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking and camping, bike riding, and traveling. Someday, when my days as a transportation planner are complete, I hope to open a museum dedicated to food history.
